Alan's Testimony
God works in children's hearts

Early days

Growing up on a small farm in Oregon, I was the third of four boys. My parents made sure we were in church almost every time the doors were open.

We moved to the country when I was four years old. My brothers and I attended a rural grade school.

Kids' Bible Club

Every week many kids attended a local kids' Bible club. My brothers would get off the school bus after school at the home where the club was held.

Since I was only four I didn't go to school yet, but went with my mom who helped the woman who led the club. I heard enough to understand that I wanted to follow Jesus. The woman prayed with me during that first year and assured my mom that my prayer was genuine.

A couple years later I made a public confession of faith in our home church during an evangelistic week. This was another in many steps of growing in my understanding of what it meant for me to follow Jesus.

In the page Alan's Journey to Missions, read how God called me to missions when I was in junior high. The truth is that God's faithfulness in my life has allowed me to continue to walk with Him all these years.

The Community of Faith

I have been very blessed by the people around me who have continued to be a strong support in my life.

The dear woman Bible club leader who prayed with me over 55 years ago is still living and she tells me that she still prays for me every day.

It is a joy to encourage my brothers and sisters in their walks of faith and finding God's will for them. Together we grow as members of God's body.
