Why I Work in French-speaking Africa
People understand God's Word most clearly in their own language.

Where in Africa?

I work in the Republic of Congo and with Congolese Bible translators and administrators with SIL-Congo.

Being fluent in French and having worked in Cameroon, has let me to have a heart for French-speaking Africa.

After spending 18 years in Cameroon and ten years working as a Campus Recruiter in the U.S., I learned that Wycliffe-U.S. was looking for someone to work as a liaison between its offices, U.S. donors, and Congolese translators. It sounded like a good fit for me!

From Cameroon to Congo

After interviewing and being offered the position, I began serving as a Field Coordinator (liaison) in 2018. In this role I come alongside my Congolese brothers and sisters to help them begin, continue, and finish translations in several indigenous languages.

Most of my work is in the Republic of Congo but I'm also helping start some work in the neighboring Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The Republic of Congo

Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC or Congo-Kinshasa)

There are currently nine communities in the Republic of Congo that I'm helping with New Testament translation projects: Bekwel, Bongili, Dondo, Kituba, Mboko, Teke Plateau, Teke Southwest, Ngungwel, and Yaka.

SIL Congo Staff and me (2019)

I travel about twice a year to the Republic of Congo to support this work by:

  • Giving training,
  • Trouble shooting and answering questions,
  • Building relationships with the translators and their communities face-to-face.

I really love doing this work!

I'm also helping start work in the neighboring country of Democratic Republic of the Congo, and have been there two times.

Going Forward

As this work grows, I anticipate going more often. There are 12 language communities there that are interested in working with Wycliffe-U.S.

Pray that the communities, my supervisor, and I would have wisdom in advancing this work and transforming lives.

The following is a video of a typical trip to Africa for Wycliffe - Enjoy!

And... Thank You!

We want to thank you once again for your prayers and financial support - you are helping us help them!

DeEtte and I would not be able to do this work if it wasn't for God blessing us with friends like you.

In Christ,
