Who are the Laali people?
One of the Republic of Congo's language communities
Chances are you've never heard of the Laali people, but I can assure you God created their language and knows them.
In the Republic of Congo, the Laali (part of a larger ethnic group called Teke) have roots going back to the 1600s. There are many languages that the Teke people speak, and Laali is one of those language subgroups.
Learning & Choosing
A group of Laali people came to our "Taste of Translation" workshop in Pointe Noire in April 2025. Of course they already speak their language, but at the workshop they learned how their language is used and fits in with other languages in the area, why their language is valuable, and also how Bible translation could impact their community.🛖🛖🛖
Congolese colleagues are following up with the Laali community leaders to determine next steps for a possible New Testament translation project.
Would you pray for the Laali community, my Congolese colleagues, and me as we develop a plan for next steps for them to receive God's Word in their own language?
And... Thank You!
We want to thank you once again for your prayers and financial support - you are helping us help them!
DeEtte and I would not be able to do this work if it wasn't for God blessing us with friends like you.
In Christ,
